Extended life expectancy and the aging of population spur the demand for more sophisticated medical devices. Currently, although there is still a wide gap between China's medical devices industry and that in the developed countries, China's medical device market has developed at a relatively rapid pace in the past few years and will soon be the world's second largest medical device market. Research suggests that the global medical devices market has reached US$50bn, offering excellent opportunities for the biomaterials suppliers. Materials are critical for many innovations of implantable and interventional medical devices. It is said that we will move into the era of regenerative implants, as future implants holds the promise of regenerating damaged tissues and organs.
Based on this global background, BioDevice 2014, organized by MEDTEC will be held on 28-29 May in Shanghai. This summit will focus on combination of biology, medicine and engineering, and also will bring together 150 industry professionals across the globe to discuss the development of biomedical devices, allowing opportunities to learn, discuss, network, challenge and collaborate under one roof.
