OTTAWA, June 17, 2013 /CNW/ - BIOTECanada and BioTalent Canada have signed a milestone agreement enabling these two national organizations to collaborate and help Canada's bio-economy continue to be a key driver of Canada's economy.
This new alliance enables all BIOTECanada's members new services and access to BioTalent Canada's suite of human resource (HR) products, including the country's only national, bilingual biotechnology job board, "The PetriDishTM."
"Canada's biotech industry has before it a significant opportunity in the form of a world dependent on biotechnology solutions to keep people fed and move traditional manufacturing processes into the bio-economy. Canada's long history of biotech research and innovation has positioned it as a leader in the space," commented Andrew Casey, President and CEO BIOTECanada. "Yet, while well-positioned, Canada and its biotech sector must continue to be as competitive as possible to successfully compete for this global opportunity. Access to capital and people are fundamental to the industry's overall competitiveness. In this context, the agreement between BioTalent Canada and BIOTECanada represents an important opportunity to support BIOTECanada members as they look for ways to attract the best and brightest from Canada and beyond."
"Investment in and advancement of Canada's biotech sector begins with people and Canada has a strong talent pool," says Rob Henderson, President of BioTalent Canada. "The initial findings of BioTalent Canada's up-coming 2013 labour market information report continue to highlight the essential need for employers to draw in candidates with the required skills for their company to succeed. It is critical companies are able to attract and retain talent for the industry to thrive. We're pleased to serve the members of BIOTECanada as their go-to HR source," he said.
The collaboration brings together two strong national organizations - the industry's voice of BIOTECanada and the HR leadership of BioTalent Canada. Together, the organizations plan to provide a solid foundation for the industry and the people who work within it to continue to innovate, thrive and prosper.
