Black Creek Historic Brewery releases Historic Beers of Canada Gift Pack
- Give a taste of history this holiday season -
TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, Black Creek Historic Brewery announced the release of the Historic Beers of Canada Gift Pack now available in select LCBO stores. The gift pack contains beer representing the first four decades of Black Creek Historic Brewery's 'Historic Beers of Canada' series, a lineup of the twelve distinct beers that represent each consecutive decade of Canadian and brewing history. All the beers are brewed from Canadian sourced hops and malt.
The four bottles in the gift pack include:
Rifleman's Ration: A light bodied brown ale that commemorates the years 1810 to 1819, to mark the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. It has a full natural flavor and a wonderful lemony tang.
Dray Horse Ale: A full bodied brown ale that represents the era of canal building from 1820 to 1829. During this time many of Canada's canals were being built. The motive power required to pull barges through the recently completed canals of Upper and Lower Canada was provided by large powerful dray horses.
Montgomery's Courage: A rye pale ale that represents the decade from 1830 - 1839, when there were revolts against unjust government rule in both Upper and Lower Canada. This amber ale is lightly carbonated and balanced to favour a slightly bitter hopping while delivering peppery, spicy notes with a bouquet reminiscent of ripe apples or calvados.
Riel's Dream: A wheat stout that represents the decade from 1840 - 1849. This is the fourth in the series and the latest entry in the historic beer series. This defiant stout is brewed with Saskatchewan barley, Manitoba wheat and French Canadian hops. Diverse in pedigree, the style and region specific ingredients were selected by Black Creek to commemorate Louis Riel's Dream.
The Historic Beers of Canada Gift Pack is available for a limited time at select LCBO's, selling for $15.95 per pack with each pack containing four 500 ml bottles. To find a participating LCBO near you, search for the product #356196 at www.lcbo.com

About Black Creek Historic Brewery
Located in Black Creek Pioneer Village, the Black Creek Historic Brewery is a working recreation of a 19th century brewery, an era when beer was both a popular beverage and a staple food. Using only period equipment and no electricity, the Brewery handcrafts the same ale and porter varieties enjoyed in Ontario before Confederation. Located at Black Creek Pioneer Village, the brewery is open daily to the public, visitors can chat with costumed interpreters or join guided tours and taste samples drawn from oak barrels. The beer can be enjoyed on the premises at the Black Creek Historic Brewery Restaurant and Pub, or brought home in returnable "growlers." Public events are held throughout the year at the Brewery; the facility is also available for corporate and private functions. Black Creek ales and porters sold off-site at LCBO stores are brewed at a commercial facility under the supervision of the Brewmaster. Black Creek Historic Brewery is a member of the Ontario Craft Brewers and is operated by Black Creek Pioneer Village in partnership with Pioneer Breweries Limited.
