Blackburn Radio's Larry Gordon to receive Fire Safety Award
TORONTO, June 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Larry Gordon of Blackburn Radio will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 12, 2013 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
Larry Gordon is the News Director of Blackburn Radio in Sarnia. For the past nine years, Gordon has helped Sarnia Fire Rescue Services deliver valuable fire safety messages throughout the community.
Gordon hosts a segment on his station called Larry's Comment, where he offers remarks about news stories of the day. In stories related to fires, Gordon always manages to include a fire safety message in his reporting, especially about the importance of working smoke alarms.
Gordon keeps in close contact with Sarnia's Public Education Officer Tom Marshall and is always willing to promote fire department events and initiatives to the more than 100,000 listeners in the Lambton-Kent-Essex area.
