Blackstone Industrial Services Expands Repair Offering
SHERWOOD PARK, AB, Dec. 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Blackstone Industrial Services (Blackstone), a leading Canadian critical rotating equipment services company, has expanded its role in support of its customers and BHGE for the second time this year. As an Authorized Service & Sales Channel of Baker Hughes, a GE company, (BHGE) Blackstone's scope has expanded and now leads the turnkey repair for reciprocating compression, pumps and power transmissions in Canada.
The expansion will create a new offering, Blackstone Repair Services, as it combines facilities, teams and skillsets rolled into a newly envisioned offering for Blackstone. On December 1, Blackstone moved into a previously BHGE-operated facility located at 2240 Premier Way Sherwood Park, AB. Blackstone has also moved to acquire a major interest in another partner shop, "On the Level" (OTL) in Sherwood Park, AB. This acquisition is set to close on December 17.
"We are excited at the prospect of supporting our customers and partners in a new way. Blackstone has always been a highly concentrated downstream and petrochemical services company; these products are our wheelhouse and these brands are institutions. We believe in the long-term importance of investing in this market and, as our home, this expansion symbolizes our intent to stake a long-term claim in the community," said Alex Fulthorpe P.Eng, Executive Vice President of Blackstone.
The previous BHGE facility brings 26,500 square feet of rotating repair assets, machining, major crane and lifting capacity and balance equipment. This, combined with the current 23,500 square feet OTL set up for rotating and industrial repair work, brings a combined capacity of 50,000 square feet. Blackstone's investment completes the tactical offering of field service, parts and repairs and aims to exceed customers' expectations in the lifecycle of rotating equipment maintenance.
"This is a centre of excellence. We see many of our competitors trying to diversify, as if the core western Canadian economy has disappeared for good, and this fragmentation drives unfortunate behaviour with operators. We don't agree," said Alex Fulthorpe. "We are Oil & Gas, and we power the economy and the country. We have a lot of respect for our clients and the equipment they operate. The expansion of our offering comes at a time when many businesses are shrinking, and we are expanding in the east and on the Gulf coast. Our track record speaks for itself, and we intend to continue building the most consolidated and reliable rotating equipment service provider we can—Field service, Parts, Engineering and now Repair. We look forward to building new models for our clients and rebuilding this economy."
