BLG Offers E-Discovery Services to Help Clients Prepare for Trial
BLG uses KPMG's state of the art technology to deliver high quality and cost-effective document review
TORONTO, Dec. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to offer electronic discovery services, using state of the art technology supported by KPMG in Canada, a leader in delivering Audit, Tax and Advisory services, to help its clients comply with pre-trial document production requirements efficiently and securely.
E-discovery includes the collection, analysis, review and exchange of electronic documents for litigation. Due to the volume of email and nature of digital records, it is generally one of the most expensive aspects of litigation. BLG's Discovery Services team works directly with clients to manage the process, maximizing efficiencies and avoiding unnecessary costs. BLG's unique flexible pricing model offers savings of up to 50 per cent compared with market rates.
"We launched BLG's Discovery Services team a year ago to take advantage of cutting edge e-discovery technology and offer our clients the best technical service combined with the firm's legal expertise," said Martin Felsky, national e-discovery counsel at BLG. "Our national, multi-disciplinary team of e-discovery specialists and case administrators are able to handle our clients' e-discovery needs from start to finish, carefully considering and documenting every step to withstand challenges in court."
BLG utilizes KPMG's Ediscovery Managed Services, which leverages industry-leading software RelativityTM and can be customized to meet BLG clients' needs. In its first year, BLG's Discovery Services has hosted over 200 cases for clients, working with over 350 users.
"KPMG was pleased to welcome BLG as the first client of our national Ediscovery Managed Services. Our team of professionals complement BLG's in-house Discovery Services with leading technology, practices and exceptional service," said Dominic Jaar, Partner and National leader of KPMG's Forensic Technology Services.
BLG's Discovery Services team is comprised of 14 professionals located across each of the firm's offices, led by Mr. Felsky. Prior to joining BLG, Mr. Felsky co-founded and ran a major Canadian e-discovery service provider. He has advised many jurisdictions in Canada on new rules and practice directions relating to e-discovery, and is a member of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada Working Group on electronic discovery rules.
