Alex MacFarlane brings nearly three decades of experience in high-profile bankruptcy and restructuring files to BLG

TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2016 /CNW/ - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Alex MacFarlane is joining its Toronto office as partner in the Banking and Financial Services and Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Restructuring Groups. Mr. MacFarlane regularly acts for debtor corporations, financial institutions, receivers, court appointed monitors, liquidators, creditors' committees, trustees in bankruptcy and purchasers of distressed assets. He has extensive experience in respect of cross-border insolvency proceedings,  including insolvency and restructuring proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Winding-Up and Restructuring Act.

Mr. MacFarlane has frequently appeared in cases heard on the Commercial List of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in connection with restructuring proceedings, proposals and receiverships on behalf of debtors, creditors and court appointed monitors, liquidators and receivers.

He is a member of numerous associations, including the American Bankruptcy Institute. He holds an LLB from Dalhousie University and an MA (ABD) from York University.
