BNY Mellon Asset Management Launches Emerging Markets Pooled Fund in Canada
Structure aims for more efficient solution than separate account format </pre> <p><location>TORONTO</location>, <chron>Feb. 12</chron> /CNW/ -- BNY Mellon Asset Management has announced the launch of a Canadian-domiciled emerging markets pooled fund, which has been developed as a lower-cost alternative to the separate account structure typically offered to Canadian institutional clients.</p> <p/> <p>The new fund, the BNY Mellon Pooled Emerging Markets Value Equity Fund, will be managed by D. <person>Kirk Henry</person>, senior managing director of The <location>Boston</location> Company Asset Management, LLC, one of BNY Mellon Asset Management's investment boutiques.</p> <p/> <p>"This is one of the few emerging markets strategies available to Canadian institutional investors in a Canadian-domiciled pooled fund," said Richard J. Terres, managing director for BNY Mellon Asset Management. "The vast majority of emerging markets strategies offered to Canadian investors are through separate accounts, which tend to be less operationally efficient for plan sponsors looking for exposure to this asset class."</p> <p/> <p>"We continue to see opportunities in emerging markets equities," said Henry. "However, as the recent volatility clearly demonstrates, investing in emerging markets requires an active, stock-selection-based investment strategy."</p> <p/> <p>Interests in any investment vehicles may be offered and sold in <location>Canada</location> through BNY Mellon Asset Management <location>Canada</location>, Ltd., an Ontario-registered Portfolio Manager and an Exempt Market Dealer.
