CALGARY, July 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Ivrnet Inc., (TSX-V: IVI), would like to announce a number of significant changes to the Board of Directors and management team.
In the fall of 2012, longtime Chairman Bob Blackshaw announced his retirement. Ivrnet's Board, Management and shareholders thank Bob for his long time service, tireless efforts, and significant contributions to Ivrnet since its inception. Bob was with Ivrnet for more than 10 years and has left an enduring stamp on the company.
During the 2013 AGM, two new Directors were elected to the Board to replace Mr. Blackshaw. The company is thrilled to add the following extremely talented individuals.
Marcel Jacques, currently a semi-retired business development consultant and former Chairman of Replicon Inc, joins the Ivrnet Board with over 35 years of information systems experience. Mr. Jacques' interest in technology has revolved around the introduction of leading edge technologies such as supercomputers (managed four installations in Calgary) and fiber optics (co-founder of OilNet later known as MetroNet Communications which was sold to AT&T). His entrepreneurial career includes co-founding International Productivity Solutions Inc., known as PreferSoft Inc. that was sold to Pangaea Inc. Mr. Jacques was Chairman for PreferSoft Inc. and has sat on a number of boards within Calgary. Mr. Jacques continues to advise, direct and mentor numerous small private Alberta companies. Formerly, Mr. Jacques has held various positions with ACTC Technologies Inc., Control Data Canada Ltd., and Fujitsu Canada.
Andrew Watts joins the Board with a plethora of business acumen and experience as the current President and CEO of Hansar Energy Corp., a private junior oil company with assets in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Mr. Watts has previous oil & gas experience through Tier One Energy and Player Petroleum; both successful Junior Energy companies in Central & South Eastern Alberta. Mr. Watts' previous business ventures include his tenure as CEO of Watts Mechanical Services Ltd., which was included in Alberta Venture Magazine's "Fast Growth 50", ranked 1st in 2009 in the over $20 million category. As well, Mr. Watts is a graduate of MIT's "Entrepreneurial Master's Program", 2012 and was notably included in Avenue Magazine's 2009 "Top 40 Under 40" (at age 32) and is a member in good standing of the Young Presidents Organization.
With the expiry of management contracts that were inherited from the acquisition of ITSportsNet, Ivrnet has rationalized the management teams, reducing operating costs by $60K per month while still being able to add a number of key new people.
Chris Topolniski takes over as VP Finance and Administration. All finance, administrative, and legal functions report to Mr. Topolniski, who has been actively involved in Corporate Finance, Marketing and Strategic Business Planning in the public & private sectors for over 25 years. Mr. Topolniski held numerous management, Vice President, Director and business ownership positions throughout his career. Particularly applicable to his role at Ivrnet, Mr. Topolniski was CFO for the Calgary Stampeder Football Club from 1996 - 2001, and had years of banking experience as a manager within the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Mr. Topolniski conducted his Post-Secondary Degree studies in Economics & Business Administration and also holds a Professional Investment Funds in Canada designation.
Mr. Kevin Wolff takes over as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. A passionate technology enthusiast, Mr. Wolff combines tremendous breadth of technical knowledge with a strong business sense and understanding. Over the past two decades Mr. Wolff has used technology to drive profit, not build toys. His entrepreneurial skills and senior positions in product development and IT have equipped him with the ability to conceptualize, plan and strategically implement next generation solutions for multiple businesses and market verticals. Kevin is responsible for all aspects of software development, server architecture, professional services and Ivrnet's overall technological vision. He is currently working to streamline and optimize Ivrnet's technology and products, including a soon to be launched next generation of the ITSportNet platform. Using cutting edge infrastructure, Kevin focuses on security, stability, performance and innovation.
Mr. Hanif Mohamed takes over as Vice President, Product & Sales. The former founder, CEO, and majority owner of TxtMeNow, an industry leading mobile marketing company acquired by Ivrnet in 2011, Mr. Mohamed quickly demonstrated his value as a key member of Ivrnet's management team. During his entrepreneurial time at TxtMeNow, Mr. Mohamed worked with such clients as Microsoft, Open Text, Canada Safeway, Mr. Lube, Old Dutch Foods, the Calgary Stampede, and more. He has nine years of experience managing diverse teams in the technology sector. He has a strong technology vision, and is particularly adept at understanding and predicting the market's acceptance and adoption of new technologies. Mr. Mohamed holds an MBA, a B.Sc. in Computer Science, a BA in Psychology, and is PMP certified. He regularly guest lectures for numerous University of Calgary Entrepreneurship, Marketing and MBA courses.
