Boardwalk Rental Communities Announces a Lead Sponsorship of The Coldest Night of the Year
CALGARY, Feb. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Boardwalk Real Estate Investment Trust ("BEI.UN" - TSX) Boardwalk Rental Communities ("Boardwalk") is proud to announce its lead sponsorship of The Coldest Night of the Year event in Edmonton, Alberta, in partnership with Hope Mission of Edmonton. On February 22, 2014, hundreds of volunteer walkers will brave the cold and trek two, five or ten kilometers through the heart of Edmonton, walking the streets that our homeless neighbours walk each day. Hope Mission will also serve approximately 400 meals of chili to help keep the volunteer walkers warm throughout the night.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a Canada-wide fundraising walk which provides participants the opportunity to experience the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness, while supporting those citizens living homeless and hungry on our streets each day. Hope Mission is a non-profit Christian charity founded in Edmonton in 1929, providing over 500 shelter beds and serving over 1000 meals a day to Edmonton's homeless.
Sam Kolias, CEO and Chairman of Boardwalk REIT said, "We are proud to partner with Hope Mission, and are dedicated to the success of the Coldest Night of the Year event across the Country. The funds raised will provide a positive impact to those less fortunate in our Community."
The Coldest Night of the Year takes place simultaneously in 64 communities across the country. In Calgary, Alberta, Boardwalk is sponsoring four blocks of the event. In London, Ontario, Boardwalk is a primary sponsor and is preparing and serving chili to over 300 walkers and volunteers.
