Ice on Whyte is the only international ice carving competition in northern Alberta. More than 36,000 visitors per year take in the amazing ice sculptures and ice carving lessons.
The Sand on Whyte sand carving exhibit evolved out of the Ice on Whyte Festival as a summer event in Old Strathcona that features incredible sand sculptures. More than 57,000 visitors enjoy the sand carving art created by some of the same artists that carve ice at the Ice on Whyte Festival. Sand on Whyte takes place during the exciting and busy summer festival season in Old Strathcona.
"Since 2015, nearly 1,500 of Boardwalk's Resident Members enjoyed this amazing Festival" said Sam Kolias, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Boardwalk Rental Communities, "It has warmed our hearts to see our Resident Members, Associates and members of the community come together as family to enjoy this ongoing tradition."
Rob Geremia, President of Boardwalk Rental Communities added, "Boardwalk believes in building better communities and creating memorable experiences. We look forward to further supporting this event as it brings the Edmonton community together."
The Ice on Whyte Festival officially began in 2003 when a group of local sculptors partnered with the Old Strathcona Business Association to create an amazing ice carving exhibit in McIntyre Park. Through the support and engagement of the community, it has since grown to the notable event it is today. For more information, visit iceonwhyte.ca.
