MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 14, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada's top official in the Boilermakers Union and the president of its Southern Ontario local have urged their members to support Steve Mahoney in the upcoming Mississauga mayoral election.
"Steve Mahoney has been a friend of working people for many years," said International Vice-President Joe Maloney. "He understands what it's like to work hard for a living. He supports decent wages and prompt payment in the construction industry. As an MPP, he supported laws that help workers, particularly in the area of health and safety."
John Petronski, Business Manager & Secretary Treasurer of Boilermakers Local 128, with headquarters in Burlington and members throughout southern Ontario, encouraged members of the union who live in Mississauga to get out and vote on Oct. 27 to support the Mahoney campaign.
"I want to encourage our members to get out and vote, and to support Steve," said Petronski. "It's in our members' interests to support a candidate who supports fairness for working people."
