CANADIAN EMERGING ARTISTS TO SUBMIT TO THE BOMBAY SAPPHIRE COMPETITION
TORONTO, June 13, 2018 /CNW/ - The Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series is looking for emerging Canadian artists to leave their mark on the art world. Partnering with alt-pop phenomenon Lights as the official Canadian art ambassador, Bombay Sapphire Gin is proving that visual expression is within everyone, just waiting to be stirred. The competition is open to Canadian artists over the age of 25 and artists can apply at bombaysapphire.com until July 11, 2018.
In her first-ever visual art exhibition, FINDING YOUR POWER: SKIN&EARTH, Lights is proving that the creativity is not restricted by your day job. The seventeen piece exhibition features original drawings created by Lights as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the drawing process. The public exhibition will be open to the public from June 14 to June 16 in Toronto coinciding with her NXNE performance June 16 at Yonge & Dundas Square.
As the official Canadian art ambassador of the competition, Lights will be encouraging Canadians to unveil their creativity and put their work into the world. She will be judging the Toronto reveal of selected artists this fall.

About Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series:
The BOMBAY SAPPHIRE ARTISAN SERIES fosters the talents of emerging artists through a North American search for the best up-and-coming names in visual arts. Each year, a handful of finalists are selected from thousands of online submissions and local gallery events to showcase their works in front of the world's top art critics and buyers at SCOPE MIAMI BEACH the premier showcase for international emerging contemporary art. Since its inception in 2010, the Artisan Series has received more than 47,000 submissions from inspired artists across the U.S. and Canada and has precipitated the sale of artwork to musicians, collectors, and film moguls – a testament to the exceptional caliber of talent receiving exposure from this annual emerging arts competition.
About Lights:
Always pushing boundaries, alt-pop phenomenon Lights has never shied away from a challenge. Through her first three records, Lights built an incredibly passionate fan base, selling out tours around the world, earning 150M in streams, over 250K in album sales, three JUNO Awards including a 2018 win for Pop Album of the Year, and three Gold album certifications; not to mention the 2M + rabid fans who follow her every move online. Yet through this success, she felt like she had more important things to say through her music but just didn't know how to get them out. Thus was born Skin&Earth, the Canadian singer's fourth record and companion comic book series of the same name. As Billboard explains, "Concept albums are nothing new, but it's the lengths to which Lights takes her fourth album Skin&Earth that sets it apart." The immersive, multimedia experience earned further critical acclaim from the likes of Buzzfeed, Billboard, ELLE, Forbes, NYLON, PASTE, Idolator, Alternative Press, Newsweek, and Playboy, who have dubbed Lights a "Real-life musical wonder woman."
