Bonaventure Expressway: Complete Closure towards the Champlain Bridge this weekend (August 25 and 26) - Ending hour of the work CHANGED Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 22, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to inform road users that the Bonaventure Expressway will be completely closed towards the Champlain Bridge at Pierre-Dupuy Avenue this coming weekend from Friday, August 24 at 8:00 PM to Monday, August 27 at 5:00 AM.
During this period, road users are invited to use the exit on Pierre-Dupuy Ave., then the service lane, in order to get back on the Bonaventure Expressway towards the Champlain Bridge. Traffic will be slower on the Bonaventure Expressway towards the bridge throughout this roadwork.
Please note there is no major work planned for the Champlain Bridge this weekend, and all lanes will be open in the daytime on Saturday and Sunday.
This closure is necessary to carry out concrete work as part of the box girder repair project that is ongoing on the federal section of the Bonaventure Expressway at the Lachine Canal.
The second phase of the work will take place during the week of August 27 and will require the closure of two out of three lanes in each direction, outside rush hours, on the Bonaventure Expressway.
During the third phase of the work, two lanes will be kept open in each direction. It is important to note that the access ramp for the Bonaventure Expressway towards downtown Montreal from Pierre-Dupuy Ave. will be completely closed during this phase. A detour route will be created via Marc-Cantin street and Chemin des Moulins. This phase will last approximately 45 days.
Remember that this major construction project is being carried out in four phases and will be completed in late November. Press releases will be sent to inform the population of the various changes in lane configuration.
Note that this work may be postponed depending on weather conditions. To follow the work, road users are encouraged to visit www.champlainbridge.ca.
