Bonaventure Expressway (federal section): partial and complete closures for the third phase change Français
LONGUEUIL, Oct. 31, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that partial and complete closures of a section of the Bonaventure Expressway will take place throughout the coming days, in order to proceed with the third phase change (phase three to phase four) of this year's major rehabilitation work.
Bonaventure Expressway closure schedule
We invite you to consult the closure schedule planned for the Bonaventure Expressway phase change, which is subject to change according to weather conditions.
Closure of the left lane towards Montreal (currently running in the opposite direction); a single lane will remain open towards downtown Montreal:
- Saturday, November 2, 7:00 a.m., to Sunday, November 3, noon
- Wednesday, November 6, 10:00 a.m., to Thursday, November 7, 6:00 a.m.
- Thursday, November 7, 10:00 a.m., to Friday, November 8, 6:00 a.m.
During this closure, all access ramps will remain open to traffic.
Complete closure of the Bonaventure Expressway towards Montreal:
- Thursday, November 7, 8:00 p.m., to Friday, November 8, 5:00 a.m.
- Friday, November 8, 10:00 p.m., to Saturday, November 9, 9:00 a.m.
This hindrance will result in the closure of two access ramps to the Montreal-bound lanes of the Bonaventure Expressway (Ramps C and J, the access ramps via Marc-Cantin St. and via Chemin des Moulins); the ramps will close one hour before the complete closure.
During this period, a detour will be set up for road users via Exit 2 (Pierre-Dupuy): Exit 2 of the A-10 West/Chemin des Moulins/Riverside/Mill/De la Commune West/McGill/Viger Ave. West/University.
Traffic will be very heavy throughout these periods, especially during the complete closure of the Bonaventure Expressway towards Montreal.
Phase four lane configuration (last phase)
Once these weekend operations are completed, the fourth phase of work on the Bonaventure Expressway will begin. Two lanes will be kept open to traffic in each direction during this phase.
The access ramp to the Bonaventure Expressway from Chemin des Moulins towards downtown Montreal will remain closed during this fourth phase. Road users are invited to use the access ramp from Marc-Cantin St. to access the Bonaventure Expressway.
This work is part of the major rehabilitation program of the federal section of the Bonaventure Expressway, which started in 2010 and allows for the annual rehabilitation of one of the raised sections of this stretch of the expressway.
The 2013 rehabilitation work will be carried out in four phases and is expected to be completed over the winter. During this intensive work, an entire section totalling four spans of the Bonaventure Expressway will be reconstructed, including beams, the slab, expansion joints, paving and marking, as well as the rehabilitation of pillars and pier caps.
It is very important to note that this work is subject to weather conditions and may be postponed until another weekend in the event of adverse weather.
