Sixty-four Lucky Kids Signed One-Day Contracts with the Edmonton Eskimos
EDMONTON, Sept. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - On Sunday September 10, 64 lucky kids hit The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium for an experience of a lifetime. As part of Boston Pizza's annual "Eskimo for a Day" contest, local youngsters took part in a realistic "try out" and contract signing experience where they inked one-day deals with the Edmonton Eskimos. In addition to autographs and a group photo, the kids participated in fun football "try out" drills with four of their favourite players, Calvin McCarty, Jordan Hoover, Alexandre Dupuis, and Chris Getzlaf.
"We were very excited to be working with the Edmonton Eskimos to give these up-and-coming local all-stars the chance to join the Eskimos organization," says James Kawalecki, Director of Marketing, Boston Pizza. A sentiment echoed by the Eskimos team themselves.
The 64 lucky kids won the chance to be an "Eskimo for a Day" by purchasing a Boston Pizza Kids Meal and filling in an in-store ballot. After getting a taste of what it's like to play in the big leagues, they also enjoyed a special lunch from Boston Pizza.
Raw footage from Sunday's event is available on request.
