Bramalea City Centre Joins Forces with Charity to Collect Food for Local Families
Bramalea City Centre hosts 2nd Annual Rise & Shine Food Drive from October 2 to 13
BRAMPTON, ON, Sept. 30, 2014 /CNW/ - In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Bramalea City Centre (BCC) has teamed up with Caledon Community Services to launch the second annual Rise & Shine Food Drive from October 2 to 13. Focusing once again on the importance of breakfast food items, this year's goal is to collect 1,000 units of non-perishable food items that will be shared with local charities, including Knight's Table in Brampton.
"We were so inspired by the incredible generosity shown during last year's campaign, that we knew we wanted to make the Rise & Shine Food Drive an annual event," shares Alan J. Gomez, Marketing Director, Bramalea City Centre. "This year we are proud to partner with Caledon Community Services and look forward to supporting those in need this Thanksgiving."
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Meals shared together fill more than tummies they also fill the soul," shares Fiona Coughlin, of Caledon Community Services. "We are thrilled to partner with Bramalea City Centre and with their support, we are bringing the entire community together to exchange healthy activities for nutritious breakfast foods. We are excited to share the food donated with those who need it and we also welcome the entire community to join us at The Exchange in Bolton for more healthy community activities."
Another partner of The Rise & Shine Food Drive is the Brampton A's—a Canadian professional basketball team that play out of the Powerade Centre in Brampton.
Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the Guest Services Desk on the lower level in BCC (located at 25 Peel Centre Drive) during regular shopping hour. Most needed food items include:
- Nutritious Cereals
- Oatmeal
- Nutella
- Peanut Butter
- Honey
- Jams & Jellies
- Fruit Juices
- Canned Fruit
- Powdered Milk
- Tetra Pack Milk/Almond Milk
- Granola Bars
- Pancake Mix
- Syrup
In appreciation of the support shown for this year's Rise & Shine Food Drive, donors to the program will have the opportunity to participate in BCC's "Fill a Basket" initiative. When donating non-perishable food items at BCC, if a donor's offerings fill a basket (as measured by Guest Services), their name will then be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets to a Brampton A's basketball game. Complete rules & regulations available at Guest Services.
