TORONTO, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - Score Media Inc. in partnership with Gillette is thrilled to announce that Brent Furtney has been crowned the winner of Gillette DRAFTED 2: The Search for Canada's Next Sportscaster. A former high school English teacher, hailing from Fonthill, Ontario, Brent is the winner of a one-year contract with Score Media as its newest sports broadcaster, contributing to theScore Television Network, theScore.com, ScoreMobile and theScore Satellite Radio, as well as a one-year spokesperson contract with Gillette.
In a 6-month long challenge that culminated in last night's chair-gripping season finale, Brent Furtney's undeniable charm, infectious charisma and sportcasting confidence prevailed.
"From Day 1, we saw something in Brent that made us think he had what it takes to make it in this industry," says Greg Sansone, VP, Television, Score Media Inc. "We want to recognize all the finalists for their stellar performance during this past season and we congratulate Brent for transforming into a true sportscaster during the process."
Brent's year-long contract also includes the amazing opportunity to represent Procter & Gamble - one of the world's most influential beauty and grooming brands - as a spokesperson.
"Congratulations to Brent for winning Gillette DRAFTED 2 and welcome to the Gillette team," says Chris Lamb, Gillette Brand Manager. "Gillette DRAFTED 2 was bigger and better this year in every way and we want to thank all the finalists for stepping up, chasing their dream and making this season such a success."
Back for its second season, Gillette DRAFTED attracted entries from across the nation. For a one-month period beginning on May 3rd, potential draftees entered online, via mail or in person at live auditions across the country and on July 19th, 10 lucky finalists were given the opportunity to prove themselves to not only the Gillette DRAFTED judging panel but also to fans across Canada.
The winner of season one, Paul Brothers is now full-fledged member of theScore team - keeping busy doing sports updates, appearing on Bet Night Live and hosting the Stat Attack Preview Show - and also a successful spokesperson for the Gillette brand, recently appearing as a co-presenter at the industry-leading beauty and grooming event, the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards 2010.
