Brick Brewery receives a gold, silver and Peoples Choice award at the Ontario
Brewing Awards
Laker scores BIG with Ontario beer drinkers.
WATERLOO, ON, April 27 /CNW/ - Brick Brewing Company (TSX: BRB) announced today that they are the proud recipients of four medals received from the 2010 Ontario Brewing Awards.
"With the re-branding of our Laker family now complete, these awards really belong to Ontario beer drinkers" said Sean Dennis, Director of Marketing for Brick Brewing Company. "We are extremely pleased and excited about these awards knowing it was a direct result of what Ontario beer drinkers shared when asked what it was they wanted in a beer" added Dennis.
Laker's overall new and improved fit and finish hit the shelves in March of this year, participating within The Beer Store's Enhanced Lobby Display program. Early indications are that consumers are impressed with the 'new' Laker. Dennis credits Brick Brewery's Director of Brewing and Quality, Bill Henry, for brewing the award-winning brands.
"As far as entries are considered, we now have the best Light beer and Honey beer in Ontario" said Bill Henry, Director of Brewing and Quality for Brick Brewing Company. "These awards validate Brick's high quality brewing credentials" added Henry.
With 131 entries, from 27 different brewers competing in 19 different categories, Brick Brewing was awarded gold for best North American Light Lager, for Laker Light. Laker Honey won the gold medal and Peoples Choice in the Honey/Maple category. Waterloo Wheat received a silver medal in the Belgian Style Wheat (Witbier) category. Within a quarter century of brewing heritage, Brick has received 60 medals.
"The Ontario Brewing Awards are dedicated to recognizing the traditions and innovations shared by the Ontario brewing industry" said Roger Mittag founder and president of Canada's leading beer education company, Thirst For Knowledge. "The quality and diversity of beers available in Ontario prove that brewing excellence knows no borders" added Mittag
"Brick remains a proud, home grown, 100% Canadian run business in a beer industry that is increasingly dominated by foreign players" said George Croft, President and CEO of Brick Brewing Company. "If you are as committed to buy local, support local, as we are, then there are lots of great small breweries that could use the support" added Croft. "Ontario beer drinkers have the opportunity to vote every time they buy a box of beer, so why not try a beer that was brewed by a Canadian company" said Croft.
