Bridgehouse Asset Managers announces mutual fund risk rating change for the Brandes Canadian Equity Fund Français
TORONTO, June 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Bridgehouse Asset Managers (Bridgehouse), the new retail trade name for Brandes Investment Partners & Co., the manager of the Bridgehouse Funds (formerly the Brandes Funds) today announces a change to the risk rating of the Brandes Canadian Equity Fund.
Bridgehouse assigns an investment risk rating to each fund it manages. Each year, in conjuction with the fund's prospectus renewal, we review the risk ratings of each Fund. In conducting the review, Bridgehouse, following the methodology recommended by the Fund Risk Classifcation Task Force of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (the Task Force), re-calculates the standard deviation of each Fund's volatility and compares it with Task Force's Volatility Bands to determine if there have been any changes from the previous year. In addition, Bridgehouse also assesses whether there are any qualitative reasons that impact the risk classification and determine if an adjustment is appropriate. Several qualitative factors are considered, such as the extent to which a fund has exposure to securities that are generally considered to be higher risk (i.e. emerging markets or small capitalized securities) or recent unusual market conditions that may have impacted a fund's volatility. Any qualitative factors that are identified are documented and maintained on file along with the final determination of the overall risk classification. As a result of our review, the Brandes Canadian Equity Fund's risk rating has changed from Medium to Medium to High risk.
The investment objectives and strategies of the Brandes Canadian Equity Fund do not change as a result of this risk rating change.
You can request a copy of our policy that describes in more detail how we assess and determine the risk ratings of the Funds by calling us at 1-888-861-9998 or by email at [email protected].
