Bridgehouse Asset Managers Announces Mutual Fund Risk Rating Change for the Brandes Global Opportunities Fund and the Brandes Global Balanced Fund Français
TORONTO, April 22, 2016 /CNW/ - Bridgehouse Asset Managers (Bridgehouse), the retail trade name for Brandes Investment Partners & Co., the manager of the Bridgehouse Funds, today announces a change to the risk rating of the Brandes Global Opportunities Fund and the Brandes Global Balanced Fund.
Bridgehouse assigns an investment risk rating to each fund it manages. Each year, in conjunction with the fund's prospectus renewal, Bridgehouse reviews the risk ratings of each fund. In conducting the review and following the methodology recommended by the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC), Bridgehouse re-calculates the standard deviation of each fund's volatility and compares it with IFIC's Volatility Bands to determine if there have been any changes from the previous year. In addition, Bridgehouse assesses whether there are any qualitative factors that may have an impact on the risk classification and if an adjustment may be appropriate. Several qualitative factors are considered, such as the extent to which a fund has exposure to securities that are generally considered to be higher risk (e.g. emerging markets) or recent unusual market conditions that may have impacted a fund's volatility. Any qualitative factors that are identified are documented and maintained on file along with the final determination of the overall risk classification. As a result of this year's review, the Brandes Global Opportunities Fund risk rating has changed from "medium to high risk" to "medium risk" and the Brandes Global Balanced Fund risk rating has changed from "medium risk" to "low to medium risk."
The investment objectives and strategies of the Brandes Global Opportunities Fund and Brandes Global Balanced Fund do not change as a result of this risk rating change.
