- Four U.S. WiMAX service providers are deploying the market leading Bridgewater(R) Service Controller to accelerate the commercial launch of broadband services such as high-speed Internet access, Voice over IP, and video streaming to over 500 un-served and underserved communities. - The Bridgewater Service Controller (AAA) authorizes and authenticates subscribers and provides critical accounting functions. It is fully compliant with the WiMAX Network Working Group Stage 3 specification and includes advanced features such as over-the-air provisioning, support for casual usage business models, and lawful intercept requirements. Leading WiMAX service providers including Sprint, Scartel, Tatung, and Global Mobile have selected Bridgewater to rapidly launch WiMAX services. - The WiMAX solution enables service providers to: - Rapidly deliver services and reduce costs through over-the-air provisioning of subscribers, devices, and on-demand service models. - Deliver innovative, personalized services to attract and retain subscribers including casual usage based on time or volume, pre- paid, and post-paid services. - Meet regulatory requirements such as Lawful Intercept. - The company has received USDA Rural Development acceptance from the USDA Rural Utility Service for the Bridgewater Service Controller including the Prepaid Integrator Module, the Bridgewater Policy Controller, and Bridgewater's Subscriber Data Broker. This acceptance enables U.S. service providers to take advantage of a federal rural broadband funding program when deploying Bridgewater's solutions for rural residential, business, and community broadband wireless services. - A total of $7.2 billion in grants and loans are being made available by the U.S. Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the USDA's Rural Utilities Service to accelerate the deployment of broadband infrastructure services in areas of the country that have been without high-speed infrastructure.
