Bridlewood Branch Relocation & Expansion
One of Toronto's busiest libraries will have nearly 50% more space
TORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Toronto Public Library invites members of the public to a community open house about the upcoming relocation and expansion of Bridlewood Branch, the city's third busiest neighbourhood library. Scheduled to commence in December 2010, the branch is relocating to a larger unit in the same mall.
Toronto Public Library staff will be on hand at the meeting to review floor plans for the relocated branch and answer questions from the public.
The Bridlewood Branch is in a location in the mall that is undersized to meet the needs of the community. The new space, which is 47% larger, offers a significant improvement in terms of location in the mall, height of ceilings, open flexible space and visibility.
Date: | Friday, November 19, 2010 |
Time: | 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. |
Place: | Bridlewood Branch, Bridlewood Mall, 2000 Warden Avenue, (at Finch Avenue East) |
Expected to be completed by January 2011, the relocation is the first phase in a complete renovation in the new space, entirely funded by the mall owner and developers. The next phase of renovation is expected to commence in 2012.
The upcoming relocation and expansion of Bridlewood Branch is part of Toronto Public Library's ongoing building revitalization plan. In 2010, Torontonians benefited from the reopening of two branches after renovations: Thorncliffe (opened Feb. 4) and Riverdale (September 28). Cedarbrae and Northern District are scheduled to reopen by the end of the year.
