Bringing Welding Knowledge to National Educators
Canadian Welding Association Host's 4th Annual National Educators Conference
SASKATOON, SK, May 25, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Welding Association will host the Fourth annual Welding Educators Conference, the only national meeting of Canadian educators of the welding trade. The conference will take place from May 25th to 26th at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon.
This is the first gathering of Canada's welding educators since the launch of Acorn – Canada's first end-to-end welding education program. With representation from across Canada, the conference will see the roll-out of this innovative program to welding educators from colleges, high schools and trade unions. Developed with the input of industry and educators from across the country, Acorn incorporates education, training, and assessment to create the highly skilled, in-demand welders Canada needs.
"At this year's conference, the first group of over 80 welding educators will receive Acorn training and certification," said Dan Tadic, CWA Executive Director. "Working together, we will ensure that Canada's welders have access to cutting edge training."
Welding contributes more than $5 billion to the Canadian economy and employs more than 300,000 individuals. However, with a looming shortage of qualified welders, training has never been such a critical issue. This year's National Educator's Conference will move the meter on welding education and training through two days of hands-on discussion, workshops and roundtables about the new national programs, helping to ensure the Canadian welding industry remains a global leader.
