CHARLOTTETOWN, July 30, 2014 /CNW/ - The PEI 2014 Celebration Zone will host the province of British Columbia, as part of the PEI 2014 celebrations, during British Columbia Week August 4 to 10th. British Columbia's vibrant culture and exceptional performing arts community will be showcased throughout the week at the free, family-friendly Celebration Zone. The week will include a performance on the Atlantic Lottery / Red Shores Main Stage by multi-platinum selling rocker, Matthew Good.

British Columbia Week will also include performances by iconic BC musicians Barney Bentall & The Legendary Hearts, Neil Osborne of 54-40, and Jim Brynes; award-winning chanteuse, Jill Barber; Canadian comedy icons, Double Exposure; Indie favourties, Hey Ocean!; synth-rockers, Dear Rouge; award-winning children's entertainers, The Kerplunks; acclaimed gospel singers, The Sojourners; bilingual children's musician and educator, Will Stroet; and critically acclaimed power trio, Tiller's Folly. The PEI 2014 Celebration Zone is a free, 70 day cultural festival running between July 1st and September 7th. Located at Confederation Landing on the Historic Charlottetown Waterfront, the PEI 2014 Celebration Zone will be a hub of family-friendly celebratory activity all summer long.
In 2014, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary (Sesquicentennial) of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which led the way to the creation of Canada. PEI 2014 Inc. is facilitating the planning, promotion and implementation of the Sesquicentennial celebrations. The PEI 2014 celebrations are made possible through generous support from the Government of Canada, the Government of Prince Edward Island, and the City of Charlottetown. The year-long and province-wide PEI 2014 program of events will honour the past, celebrate the present and plan a bold tomorrow.
