MONTREAL, April 30, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Earlier today, developer and builder Broccolini held a groundbreaking ceremony, in the presence of Broccolini's executive leaders, partners and dignitaries, to mark the start of construction of Victoria sur le Parc, which will become the tallest residential tower in Montreal. The project will also house ten floors of office space, including a commercial ground floor, and will rise up in Montreal's Quartier International. Work is expected to be complete in 2023. This project along with the 628 Saint-Jacques, also being developed by Broccolini, and the new National Bank headquarters located at 800 Saint-Jacques Street, for which Broccolini is the general contractor, together represent a total investment of nearly 1.3 billion dollars in the neighbourhood.
The Victoria sur le Parc project has garnered tremendous interest from the public. "The speed at which the available units sold shows once again just how much buyers trust Broccolini's expertise," said Chief Operating Officer, Anthony Broccolini. In fact, more than 300 residential units, representing 75% of the available units, have been sold since the launch of sales last October. "This enthusiasm gives us the opportunity to put the finishing touches on the redevelopment of this city block," added Roger Plamondon, President of Real Estate Development and Acquisitions.
The 58-storey tower, designed by IBI and Béïque Legault Thuot, is destined to become a true vertical village, and will be bordered by a park, the design of which has been entrusted to landscape architect Claude Cormier. This new park will link the future building to the new National Bank headquarters, which will be located at the intersection of Saint-Jacques Street and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard.
Robert Beaudry, District Councillor for Saint-Jacques and Head of Economic and Commercial Development, Housing and Design on the Executive Committee of the City of Montreal, highlighted the importance of the project for the Saint-Jacques district: "The arrival of this distinctive building will truly consolidate and energize this key area of the Business District. The project will optimize land use in the Ville-Marie borough through densification and by creating a new park that will benefit the entire population," he says.
The launch of construction of Victoria sur le Parc and the 700 Saint-Jacques comes as Broccolini begins its 70th year of operations, an exceptional longevity for a family business in the construction industry. This new building joins the long list of large-scale projects being developed and built by Broccolini, including the new Maison de Radio-Canada in Montreal and the new Amazon distribution centre in Ottawa. The success of Broccolini's projects is a testament to the growth and solid reputation of the company in Quebec and Canada.
