The Government of Canada awards nearly $300,000 in financial assistance to three Rimouski businesses
RIMOUSKI, QC, March 26, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
BSL Casting Inc., Puribec (1981) Inc. (Puribec) and Pouliot Machinerie Inc. (PMI) Structures will be able to continue their growth and improve their productivity more effectively with the help of a total of $294,780 in repayable contributions from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
With this financial assistance, BSL Casting will be able to increase its productivity and production capacity through the acquisition of various pieces of equipment, while Puribec will be able to enhance its performance through the implementation of its new integrated management system. The contribution paid to PMI will help the business shift to Industry 4.0 through the purchase of digital technology.
The funding was announced today by Rémi Massé, Member of Parliament for Avignon–La Mitis–Matane–Matapédia and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. The Government of Canada's assistance will help the recipient businesses achieve their set objectives. Their respective projects will generate total investments of over $900,000.

Two repayable contributions totalling $124,520 out of a total investment of $418,008 BSL Casting began operations in 2008 and has 13 full-time employees. The company manufactures steel and stainless steel parts through sand casting. It specializes in small- and medium-sized castings (5 to 500 kilograms) in small series and custom complex parts for the mining, transportation, steel, forestry and energy sectors, as well as various other areas of industry.
The two projects are aimed at supporting BSL Casting's expansion through the improvement of its productivity and production capacity. CED's contributions will be used first to purchase and install an aeration system, infrared lamps and a grinding table enclosure, and next to purchase and install a new technology power unit.

Repayable contribution of $90,000 out of a total investment of $292,900 Puribec is a Rimouski-based family business that was established in 1976 and has 45 employees. It specializes in the design, manufacturing and distribution of water treatment and purification systems for the residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. In addition to its head office in Rimouski, the company has two retail locations, in Lévis and in Laval, as well as a subsidiary in Sherbrooke.
The purpose of the project is to enhance the business's performance through the improvement of its operational effectiveness. It involves acquiring and implementing an integrated management system (ERP) and Web applications. CED's contribution will go toward external project costs, including professional fees for specialized consultants. |

Repayable contribution of $80,260 out of a total investment of $200,920 Established in 1983, PMI specializes in the design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of metal products, namely industrial and commercial buildings, as well as steel mesh structures and storage equipment. It relies on its 65 employees' expertise, technological innovation and process improvement to provide comprehensive solutions for its clients in the electricity, telecommunications, energy, and industrial and institutional construction sectors.
The goal of the project is to support the growth and improve the productivity of PMI. CED's assistance will go toward the purchase of drawing software. |
