Budweiser and the Toronto Blue Jays™ team up with baseball legends to bring pro-style home runs to rec leagues
New contest brings Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar out of retirement to play with one lucky team
TORONTO, July 6, 2018 /CNW/ - In celebration of the 25th anniversary of back-to-back championship wins and one of the biggest home runs in Toronto baseball history, Budweiser Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays™ are bringing baseball legends, Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar, out of retirement for a chance to play with one group of passionate baseball players.
"There's no feeling like hitting a big home run, especially when a championship is on the line," said Joe Carter, Canadian Baseball Legend and Retired Blue Jay. "It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since that game, and I am excited to celebrate and give back to fans who are still so passionate about the sport."
Starting today, adult rec league baseball teams and baseball fans can enter the contest by making Carter and Alomar an offer on why they deserve to play with the pros using the hashtag #BudHomeRunContest, following @BudweiserCanada and tagging @BlueJays on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Ultimately, the winning submission will be selected based on 1. Creativity and originality, 2. Quality and 3. Relevance to show how far a team would go to sign two of their ultimate baseball idols.
"Adult rec league baseball players across the country get together with friends every week to play ball, and maybe even hit a few big home runs," said Mike D'Agostini, Director of Marketing, Budweiser Canada. "That's why for the 25th anniversary of one of the biggest home runs in Blue Jays history, we want to celebrate baseball across the country with two of the biggest names in the sport for one unforgettable game."
Budweiser is known for celebrating the most epic moments in sports. From the Red Light in 2013 to the Goal-Synced Glass in 2016, Budweiser has been lighting up hockey goals in arenas and at home across the country. This year, Budweiser brought its Red Light innovation to baseball with its first Budweiser Home Run Synced Glass, lighting up every time the Toronto Blue Jays hit a home run. For a limited time, Budweiser also introduced its Legends Glasses, with Joe Carter and Roberto Alomar's jersey number and signature on each glass, selling more than 8,000 glasses to date.
This contest is open to residents of Canada, excluding Quebec who are at least 19 years of age, closing on July 20, 2018 at 11:59p.m. EST. The winning submission will be announced on July 25. The game day will be decided at a later date. For more information and full contest rules, visit BlueJays.com/BudHomeRunContest.
