Budweiser Canada and Toronto FC team up to wish Toronto a 'Red Christmas'
A new fan anthem released to support TFC ahead of its final match on Saturday
TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2017 /CNW/ - As Toronto sets to go red this week ahead of the much-anticipated championship match between Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders, Budweiser Canada and Toronto FC are hoping for nothing but a 'Red Christmas'. Released today, 'Red Christmas' is a rallying cry to unite all TFC fans who are not only looking for redemption, but for what would be the best gift of all, a championship.
"We have been proud partners of Toronto FC since 2013, and we're excited to support the club year over year," said Andrew Oosterhuis, director of marketing, Budweiser Canada. "TFC fans are renowned for their energy, passion and dedication, so we created Red Christmas to rally Torontonians in anticipation of a championship win in a way that's true to the spirit of the holidays."
Filmed in the heart of Toronto at Pauper's Pub, a regular stomping ground for TFC fans, the song features familiar Toronto faces such as Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning and Toronto FC alum and first goal scorer for the club, Danny Dichio.
"This season has been full of accomplishments and excitement for the club and its fans, but this is the moment that TFC has been working towards since last December," said Dichio. "Toronto enjoys some of the best support in the league and 'Red Christmas' captures the passion that our entire city has for our Reds."
Fans in Toronto can flock to the Red Christmas TFC Viewing Party at the corner of East Liberty Street and Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village for the ultimate celebration from Toronto FC and Budweiser to witness the Finals rematch. Cost of entry to the viewing party is $10 CAD, which will be donated to MLSE Foundation to give the gift of sport this holiday season. More information on timing, ticket availability and location can be found on www.torontofc.ca.
