Building 'home sweet homes' for families living in need
Kids of all ages gather to help give a 'hand up' to children living in Toronto's substandard housing
TORONTO, Dec. 2 /CNW/ -
What: | For the first time in Habitat Toronto's newly built facility, hundreds of families will kick-off their holiday season by helping to build a 'home sweet home' for a family living in need at Habitat for Humanity Toronto's 8th Annual Gingerbread Build being held this weekend. |
"Home Sweet Home: Three simple words that, when combined, evoke such powerful feelings and wonderful memories," says Habitat for Humanity Toronto's CEO Neil Hetherington. "But for the over 70,000 families who are on Toronto's waiting list for subsidized housing, these words hold little meaning. We're thrilled that hundreds of children have joined us to help give a hand up to hardworking families who are in need of simple, decent and affordable homes of their own." | |
