Building industry raises $36,000 for affordable housing
GREATER TORONTO, July 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Members of the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) raised over $36,000 for Habitat for Humanity Toronto as part of its 20th annual Charity BBQ fundraiser.
More than 500 builders, developers, sales and marketing professionals gathered at the Association's headquarters in Don Mills to celebrate the 20th anniversary of BILD's Charity BBQ - a fundraising event in support of BILD's community partner Habitat for Humanity Toronto for the past nine years.
The Charity BBQ was paired with the third annual Race for Humanity, presented by the Toronto Star and In2ition Marketing Insights. The Race sent 25 teams scouring the streets of Toronto completing challenges before crossing the finish line at BILD headquarters where the Charity BBQ was getting underway.
"The Race for Humanity and Charity BBQ combine for a great BILD event that has something for everybody, and our members have shown their enthusiasm by getting involved, fundraising and giving back to the community," said BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey.
A big contributor to the fundraising success was the silent auction. Always a popular feature of the Charity BBQ, this year's auction items went online at starauctions.ca a week in advance to allocate more time for bidding.
BILD would like to thank all the event sponsors, prize donors, volunteers and guests for all the fundraising support. Congratulations to the organizing committee for planning a highly successful event.

BILD is proudly affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders' Associations.
