VANCOUVER, March 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Law firm Bull Housser has signed on as TELUS Garden's first commercial tenant. Once the one-million square foot development is complete in 2014, the 120-year-old firm will move 250 personnel to occupy approximately 67,000 square feet of space on three full high-rise floors of the office tower being built as part of the overall development.
The 24-storey signature office tower is targeted to be Canada's first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certified building based on the new 2009 LEED standards. Built jointly by TELUS and Westbank, TELUS Garden will also feature a 53-storey residential tower at Robson and Richards, offering more than 420 new homes as well as a public plaza, restaurant and retail space. Each building will be approximately 500,000 square feet in space.
"Like TELUS, Bull Housser has deep roots in British Columbia and a proven track record of creatively and successfully handling major projects that are key to the province's growth," said Simon Margolis, Managing Partner, Bull Housser. "We share with TELUS an ongoing commitment to the development of our community and we are therefore delighted to join them in this exciting new development."
Bounded by Georgia, Robson, Seymour, and Richards, the development will also be home to TELUS' new national headquarters.
"TELUS would like to welcome Bull Housser to TELUS Garden. We are thrilled to have such an esteemed and innovative B.C.- based firm join us in our team's new home," said Andrea Goertz, TELUS senior vice-president, Strategic Initiatives. "TELUS Garden will revitalize an aging block of downtown Vancouver, turning it into a marvel of green innovation, leading-edge technology and beautiful architecture that will become a vibrant hub where people will want to live, work, shop and play."
Bull Housser was founded in 1890 and the firm has been located in the Royal Centre on West Georgia Street since 1973.
"The sustainability aspects, leading-edge technology, and modern design of TELUS Garden will allow us to better serve our clients by providing our team with new tools, opportunities and inspiration," added Margolis.
Bull Housser will move to their new offices in TELUS Garden in September 2014.
