Benoît Gagnon to deliver breakfast to kids
MONTREAL, July 30, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - This morning, radio and television personality Benoît Gagnon officially launched the 7th Bureau en Gros fundraising campaign in support of the Club. As the proud spokesperson for this campaign, Mr. Gagnon delivered breakfast to ten or so children at the Bureau en Gros store on Notre-Dame Street in Montreal. The goal for this year's campaign, entitled "Breakfast: An Essential School Supply", is to raise $300,000 between July 28 and September 1.
"I've been looking forward to reuniting with the Club des petits déjeuners and Bureau en Gros to launch the 2013 edition of this campaign for some time now. We can all relate to the Club's mission", says Benoît Gagnon. "I myself have two children and, like every parent, want nothing more than to see them thrive and lead happy lives. Being happy in school is also important and, thanks to the Club, every child is given an equal chance to achieve happiness and succeed."
Founded in 1994 by Daniel Germain, the mission of the Club des petits déjeuners is to provide each and every child with an opportunity to have a nutritious breakfast in a friendly and nurturing environment, before stepping into the classroom. The Club is much more than a charitable organization, it is a genuine social project dedicated to academic success and child development. The breakfast program, which started in one school, has expanded its network across the country. In Quebec alone, close to 18,000 children in 287 schools benefit from a healthy breakfast every morning. In 2011-2012, that represents 2.5 million breakfasts.
"We are very fortunate to be able to count on strong partners, such as our friends at Bureau en Gros, who have supported us with the same unwavering enthusiasm for seven years", said Daniel Germain. "I think that everyone at the Club is just as excited as the children when it's time to go back to school. The energy is palpable and every Bureau en Gros employee works twice as hard to ensure the campaign's continued success. So far, Bureau en Gros has donated close to $1,450,000 to the Club. This contribution is significant and has a tangible effect on the lives of thousands of children every day."
Rudel Caron, Quebec Regional Vice-President of Sales and Operations at Bureau en Gros, shares his co-workers' enthusiasm. "The back-to-school period is one of the most intense times of the year for us as well. It is difficult to imagine in all the frenzy that some children actually go to school with an empty stomach. Here, we have all the school supplies they could ever need. Through the Club, we are proud to do our part and help provide children with the most essential supply - a supply that will allow them to start off each day and their life, for that matter, on the right foot!"
