Burlington's King Road Underpass project reaches significant milestone over the Thanksgiving weekend

STORY SUMMARY: The City of Burlington has reached a significant milestone in its work on the King Road underpass project. The city, together with CN, is installing an underpass at this busy rail crossing. More than 100 trains, both freight and commuter, pass through this location in one day.
Over the Thanksgiving weekend a 2,400-tonne (5,000,000 pound) concrete underpass built onsite will be moved under the four railway lines using a unique system of hydraulic rams.
It is not possible for media to access the construction site over the weekend. The City of Burlington will be hosting B-Roll for media to download, which will be released early Tuesday. Oct. 9, 2012.
The B-Roll will be of the construction work that took place over the weekend and will include the push of the underpass. It will also include interviews with:
Mayor Rick Goldring
Ward 1 Councillor Rick Craven
Scott Stewart, General Manager of Development and Infrastructure, City of Burlington
Tom Eichenbaum, Director of Engineering, City of Burlington
Bob Jurk, Senior Project Leader, City of Burlington
Marissa Crawford, Manager of Design and Construction, CN
They will be describing what took place over the weekend and the importance of the project to the City of Burlington.
