Firm named one of World's Best Multinational Workplaces
TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2012 /CNW/ - Known around the globe for its leading people culture, Ernst & Young was named one of the 25 World's Best Multinational Workplaces in 2012 by Great Place to Work®.
"In Canada — and around the world — we continually strive to ensure Ernst & Young is the place the best people want to work, and where we all feel proud to work," says Stephen Shea, People Leader at Ernst & Young in Canada. "We believe that if we attract, retain and invest in the best people, we will deliver exceptional results for our clients. We're very humbled to be recognized with this award for our commitment to that philosophy."
A new Ernst & Young report released this week backs up the firm's belief about investing in people. Paradigm shift: building a new talent management model to boost growth finds that investment in talent boots the bottom line.
"Our study finds that achieving superior financial results on a sustainable basis depends on making the right investments in talent," says Shea. "Yet it is clear that many companies remain reluctant to make that commitment. Even among high-performing organizations in our survey, just 45% say their company is effective at investing adequately in talent management to meet financial targets; among low performers, this proportion falls to 36%."
Moreover, the report finds that companies around the globe are facing a scarcity of talent, which is quickly turning out to be the single biggest obstacle to growth. Globally, companies are having trouble filling critical positions — roles in which they need people with the advanced skills essential to move the business forward.
"Organizations really need to actively work to shape and nurture their people," urges Shea. "Their bottom line depends on it."
