By-Elections for Etobicoke−Lakeshore, London West, Ottawa South, Windsor−Tecumseh and Scarborough−Guildwood Have Been Called Français
TORONTO, July 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Ontario's Chief Electoral Officer Greg Essensa confirmed that the writs have been issued for the August 1 by-elections in the Electoral Districts of London West, Windsor−Tecumseh, Ottawa South, Scarborough−Guildwood and Etobicoke−Lakeshore.
Canadian citizens who reside in one of the following electoral districts: London West, Windsor−Tecumseh, Ottawa South, Scarborough−Guildwood or Etobicoke—Lakeshore, and will be 18 years of age or older on election day, are eligible to vote. Visit wemakevotingeasy.ca for information on local returning offices.
The nomination period begins Thursday, July 11, 2013 and ends Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. (ET).
Electors can vote at an advance poll between July 20 and July 26. Electors can choose to vote in advance using assistive voting technology between July 21 and July 31 at the local returning office.
Electors can also vote by mail or in person at the local returning office by Special Ballot. Electors must apply for their Special ballot kit no later than 6:00 p.m. (ET) on July 26. Applications are available at wemakevotingeasy.ca, by phone or in person at the returning office.
A blackout on political advertising begins at midnight (ET) on July 3 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on July 9. A second political advertising blackout begins at midnight (ET) on July 30 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on August 1. A prohibition on the publication of surveys will also begin at midnight (ET) on July 31, 2013 and ends at 9 p.m. (ET) on August 1.
