VANCOUVER, Sept. 11, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) is hosting its 63rd annual meeting in Vancouver BC from September 14 to 16. Speakers from North America and Europe will converge to discuss medical, scientific, laboratory, and social issues pertinent to the ever-changing field of assisted reproduction. With the theme of this year's meeting, "Healthy Body; Healthy Baby," the CFAS highlights issues of pre-conceptional health and how outcomes can be optimized for patients and their children born of assisted reproductive technologies.
As the government of Canada finally starts to draft regulations for key sections of the Assisted Human Reproduction Act 2004, the CFAS and its multidisciplinary members will raise the issue of whether sections of the Act are still relevant to Canadian Society. Member of Parliament Mr. Anthony Housefather will participate in a panel discussion on this topic on Friday September 15, 2017 (9:50am to 10:30) along with other experts. A key element of the discussion will be whether Canada should allow reasonable compensation for egg donors, sperm donors and surrogates.
