The OGSAQ Plans Its Third Alberta Farm Tour for July 2014
QUÉBEC, May 1, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Oil and Gas Services Association of Quebec (OGSAQ) announced today its third farm tour in Alberta. From July 21 to 23, 2014, a dozen Quebec business leaders will participate in this trip to Alberta to learn more about the oil and gas industry. Ms. Françoise Bertrand, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec has confirmed her participation.
For the third consecutive year, the OGSAQ has planned a tour of Alberta for a Quebec delegation so that participants can personally witness the healthy coexistence between the local people, local municipalities, and the industry in the context of resource development. During this tour, participants will have an opportunity to meet with Albertan entrepreneurs and farmers who have been working in the oil and gas industry for years. Delegation participants will also have an opportunity to meet with lead agencies in order to better understand the regulatory framework for oil and gas development in Alberta.
"We chose this destination because Alberta has been using best industry practices to exploit oil and gas in an environmentally conscious manner for the past 70 years. I believe that enabling more Quebecers to visit drilling sites and to meet witnesses of the industry, will help participants to understand the oil and gas industry better and will help dispel the myths that are common in Quebec," said Mario Lévesque, president of the OGSAQ.
During previous tours, all the participants returned to Quebec believing that harmonious coexistence between the industry and agriculture is possible and that is why the OGSAQ is, this year, again offering the opportunity for several other Quebecers to see the reality for themselves.
We invite Quebecers and media representatives to follow the third Alberta tour by going to the OGSAQ website at www.afspg.com under the Activities tab, where they will be able to get more information. Or follow us on Twitter at @AFSPG and #ABTour2014.
A media advisory will soon be sent out with additional information.
