Growing team supports a robust Internet in Canada
OTTAWA, Nov. 6, 2014 /CNW/ -The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), steward of the .CA domain name system, is relocating its corporate headquarters to the vibrant live/work/ play community at Lansdowne Park.
"We are committed to the Ottawa region and our success is intimately linked with the growing technology, business and Internet governance community in this city," said Byron Holland, president and CEO. "With a combination of modern office space and areas for social interaction and reflection, Lansdowne is a great fit for the expanding .CA team. This development embodies our high-performance, yet balanced, workplace culture."
As one of the fastest growing Internet domain name registries in the world, .CA is a critical component of Canada's Internet infrastructure and an influential voice in the global Internet governance ecosystem. With a suite of new Internet-related products and services in development, the .CA team has grown nearly 20% over the last year, creating a need for a new home.
The organization needed a work environment that reflected the company's unique culture of innovation, excellence and employee engagement.
- .CA is the first tenant for the office space at 979 Bank Street.
- The development will feature leading-edge environmental sustainability, including targeting LEED Gold certification for the office building.
- The Lansdowne development combines spaces for work, leisure and living, embedded within the popular Glebe community of Ottawa. The site balances office and retail sites, with recreational and professional sports facilities, park land, town homes and two condo towers that celebrate Ottawa's natural environment and historic sites.
Design work is currently underway and the new .CA offices will be ready for occupancy in the spring of 2015.
