CAA-Quebec's Gasoline Watch tool now available for iPhone, iPod touch and
iPad
QUEBEC, Nov. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - CAA-Quebec is pleased and proud to announce that its popular Gasoline Watch tool, consulted by thousands of Web users every day, is now available to all iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners.
As of today, the CAA-Quebec Gasoline Watch application can be downloaded free from Apple's App Store. "We're thrilled to be keeping pace with the latest technologies and making our application available to motorists everywhere who are concerned about fluctuating gas prices," says Sophie Gagnon, CAA-Quebec's Senior Director, Public and Government Relations. "With the new app, we're now putting the information right into the consumer's palm. This made-in-Quebec technology lets them make an informed, quick decision whether it's worth it to fill up or not."
Daily updates
Like the original Gasoline Watch microsite developed by CAA-Quebec, the app — available in both English and French versions — posts the realistic price of a litre of gasoline for each of Quebec's regions, based on updated petroleum price indicators. The daily updates are posted at the same time as on the version at www.caaquebec.com.
Gasoline Watch for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad works the same way as its Web-based parent. Users simply select a region from a drop-down menu to display the price they should realistically expect to pay for gasoline in that region. This helps them judge whether filling the tank is a wallet-wise decision: if the pump price is lower than the realistic price, a fill-up is a good idea; if the gas station's price is higher than that displayed by the application, however, they're better off buying just enough gas.
CAA-Quebec reminds the public that its realistic price is not a suggested price, but an accurate reflection of the price indicators and market conditions for each of the regions in the province.
Adding the CAA-Quebec Gasoline Watch application to an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad is easy: simply go to the App Store, accessible through iTunes software at http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/infoessence/id402664797?mt=8.
CAA-Quebec, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1904, provides automotive, travel, residential and financial services and privileges to more than one million members.
