CAA SCO: helping clear the air on smog
THORNHILL, ON, July 5 /CNW/ - Don't just sit and fume in hot bumper-to-bumper traffic this summer, get eco-smart and become part of the pollution solution.
CAA South Central Ontario's (CAA SCO) Autogreen initiative offers drivers quick and easy options to help them do their part in keeping our air quality index in the good to very good range.
"One of the easiest and most impactful ways for commuters to help keep the summer void of smog days is to be mindful of idling their cars for prolonged periods of time," said Anna Halkidis, Community Relations Manager, CAA SCO.
Eco-conscious motorists can also make sure their vehicles are running as cleanly as possible to help the environment with a visit to a local CAA Car Care Centre for an oil change with EcoPower - a recycled and re-refined oil.
CAA SCO recommends the following tips:
- Consider taking public transit or car pooling once a week - If you have multiple vehicles, use the most fuel-efficient one for longer commutes - Plan and combine trips to reduce emissions and fuel consumption - Avoid idling for prolonged periods of time - Service your vehicle regularly - If possible, work from home
