CAA SCO road trip tips:
- Prep your car, change your oil, test your battery, top up your fluids and check your tire pressure before you leave. Visit the nearest CAA Approved Auto Repair Service facility for a comprehensive vehicle inspection.
- When packing the trunk, start with your largest bags, and then fill in the space around them with smaller items. Always keep the view through your back window clear. And for all your travel gear including emergency kits, water bottles, maps and luggage visit a CAA Travel Store near you.
- Plan your route ahead of time and bring a map as a backup to your GPS. CAA offers maps and TripTik route planners to help get you where you are going safely.
"No matter where you're travelling, we recommend buying travel insurance to protect yourself against unexpected emergency trips to the doctor's office or emergency room," said Silvana Aceto, Media Relations Consultant, CAA SCO.
"OHIP will not cover medical expenses outside of Canada and the cost of a hospital stay and medical attention while away can cost tens of thousands of dollars," added Aceto.
CAA SCO travel insurance is underwritten by ORION Travel Insurance Company.
For over a hundred years, CAA has been helping Canadians stay mobile, safe and protected. CAA South Central Ontario is one of nine auto clubs across Canada providing roadside assistance, automotive care, travel products, insurance services and member savings for more than 1.9 million members.
