Seasonally-inspired activations, décor and performances planned regionally in celebration of spring
TORONTO, March 20, 2017 /CNW/ - Cadillac Fairview (CF) is marking the arrival of spring with dynamic displays and interactive installations across its portfolio of shopping centres in Canada. Beginning March 20, Canadians can enjoy the wonders of the season through artfully crafted décor and experiences when visiting their local CF shopping centre.
"Spring is a naturally uplifting season as we look to refresh and shift into a new time of year. It's the perfect opportunity to look ahead with optimism," commented Craig Flannagan, VP, Consumer Marketing, Cadillac Fairview. "To complement our retailers' spring campaigns, we are continuing to focus on providing immersive, experience-led activations that deliver feelings of joy and optimism to our guests, allowing them to share and revel in the excitement of the new season."
Unveiling the Garden of Light
CF is celebrating spring by introducing the Garden of Light, an interactive, multi-sensory experience featuring thousands of LED flowers. Guests are invited to physically and socially engage with the installation. Five floral LED gardens will be revealed across the country with the first debuting today at CF Sherway Gardens. CF Fairview Mall, CF Chinook Centre, CF Rideau Centre and CF Promenades St. Bruno will launch floral LED gardens between March 27 and March 30. Each Garden of Light is planted with between 1,600 to 4,000 LED flowers and will be on display until April 28.
To further enliven guests, the Garden of Light features a pre-programmed light show that can be activated by consumers using touchpads within the installations to trigger unexpected colour and pattern reactions. Guests can also remotely activate the Garden of Light by sharing posts on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #CFHelloSpring.
Cheerful sound effects and soundtracks have been incorporated to enhance the overall sensory experience of each installation. The Garden of Light will play calming sounds of nature when set to an ambient setting, and four 90-second light shows programmed to joyful spring instrumental music will rotate every ten minutes for visitors to enjoy.
Ringing in the Season with CF's Spring Concert Series
CF is bringing the delightful sounds of spring to consumers with three complimentary performances by local musicians held in the Garden of Light at select CF properties. Celebrating the diversity of talent across the country, the acts will range from soulful solo performances to harmonic group ensembles.
CF Sherway Gardens will feature a performance by Toronto-based group Ladom Ensemble on Sunday, March 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The group integrates traditional Persian, Balkan, tango, and Turkish music within a contemporary classical framework. The blend of piano, accordion, cello and percussion will add an energetic and innovative soundtrack to the Garden of Light.
A musical quartet from the renowned Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a combination of classical and contemporary pieces at CF Chinook Centre on Saturday, April 8 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing visitors with a world-class musical backdrop for their shopping experience.
The Spring Concert Series will conclude with a performance by Ottawa native and Canadian award-winner Amanda Rheaume at CF Rideau Centre on April 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The internationally accomplished Métis singer-songwriter, and Juno nominee, will deliver a soulful folk-country-pop-tinged performance to inspire consumers to get into the spirit of spring.
Refreshing, Vibrant Floral-themed Décor and Activations
CF is amplifying its awe-inspiring décor at select shopping centres to align with the colours, textures and overall aesthetics of the season. This includes eye-catching, 25-foot long floral-themed displays and decals, hanging spiral installations and a colourful outdoor hanging umbrella installation at CF Shops at Don Mills, complete with 144 suspended umbrellas.
CF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall, CF Lime Ridge, CF Toronto Eaton Centre and CF Galeries d'Anjou will be home to stunning 20-foot tall artificial Japanese Cherry Blossom installations featuring silk and authentic florals. CF Sherway Gardens will also feature four, eight-foot tall Japanese Cherry Blossom arrangements to complement its Garden of Light activation, bringing the bright and delicate look of spring to all shoppers.
Lastly, CF Toronto Eaton Centre will be hosting a complimentary Flower Crown bar on April 1, 2, 8 and 9 from noon to 6:00 p.m. in Albert's Way. Led by local floral experts from pickOntario, guests will have a chance to create their own fresh floral crown using spring flowers to take home or share with a loved one.
