CADSI Confirms Industry Support for Long-Term Vision of Government Following Release of Auditor-General's Report on Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy

OTTAWA, Nov. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - "Today's report by the Auditor-General on the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy is a timely and helpful reminder of the important decision made by the Government to build naval and coast guard vessels in Canada," said Tim Page, president of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI).

"The shipbuilding strategy is the right approach for the right reasons, particularly in a time of global instability and turbulent economic times," said Page. "This long-term vision and commitment is good for our national security, and it is good for our sovereignty. It is intended to meet Canada's vital need for new ships, could support up to 15,000 high-quality jobs in Canada and create leading technologies including for export markets. Importantly, it will provide economic benefits across the country over several decades of work on fleet production and sustainment."
