CaGBC confirms Bev Van Ruyven, BC Hydro's Acting President & CEO, as Honorary
Chair of National Green Building Conference
VANCOUVER, April 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canada Green Building Council's third annual national conference, "PERFORMANCE MATTERS: the next generation of buildings & communities" will be held in Vancouver June 8 to 10, 2010, and will be presented this year by BC Hydro.
Following up on the resounding success of our first two annual conferences, this year is shaping up to be the largest green building event in Canada. Over 1,200 delegate representatives from industry, government and non-profit sectors will attend and more than 80 speakers and expert panelists will share their expertise on a range of green building issues, trends and opportunities. And, with 180 exhibitors on the tradeshow floor and dozens of journalists in attendance, the conference promises to provide an influential forum for the green building industry in Canada to continue to develop and evolve.
The CaGBC is excited to confirm that BC Hydro's Acting President & Chief Executive Officer, Bev Van Ruyven, has agreed to be Honorary Chair of the conference. Bringing her dynamic wealth of education and industry experience, Ms. Van Ruyven currently serves on the boards of Accenture Business Services for Utilities, Fraser Basin Council, Vancouver Board of Trade Women's Leadership Circle, BC Business Council and the Board of Governors for the University of Victoria.
Program highlights include keynote Vivian Loftness (internationally renowned researcher, author and educator at Carnegie Mellon University). Responding to demand for the latest information from industry experts and leaders, the conference will offer dozens of educational sessions in the following eight education streams: Actual Performance in Buildings; Economics & Innovations; Green Practices for New Construction; Policy & Procedure; Sustainable Cities & Communities; LEED Canada for Homes; Master Speaker Series; and Green in the Public Sector.
