MONTREAL, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - From August 27 - October 14, 2018, the Ville de Montréal is launching a Call for Candidates to attract new members to three advisory councils: the Conseil des Montréalaises, the Conseil interculturel de Montréal and the Conseil jeunesse de Montréal.
The three advisory councils are composed of 15 volunteer members chosen to reflect the diverse nature of Montréal.
The principal mandate of the Conseil des Montréalaises is to advise City Council on all matters affecting the quality of life of women in Montreal, including the status of women, equality between women and men, and equality among women.
The main mandate of the Conseil interculturel de Montréal is to advise City Council and express its opinion about the services and policies to be implemented, in order to promote the integration and participation of ethnic and cultural communities in Montreal's political, economic, social and cultural life.
Members of the Conseil jeunesse de Montréal advise the mayor and the city's executive committee on youth issues to ensure that the interests of 12 to 30-year olds are taken into account in municipal decision-making.
The members of these advisory councils are appointed by City Council on the recommendation of a selection committee. Members serve a three-year term, which may be renewed once.
