Call for volunteers - Conseil interculturel de Montréal (CIM)
MONTREAL, July 8 /CNW Telbec/ - The Conseil interculturel de Montréal (CIM) has the following main responsibility: to advise the city council and executive committee on services and policies to be implemented to promote the integration and participation of cultural communities in the city's political, economic, social and cultural life.
Candidacy
The members of the Conseil interculturel de Montréal are chosen to reflect the make-up of the city's society. They are appointed by the city council, on recommendation of a selection committee. Members' terms are of at most 3 years, only renewable once.
Selection Criteria
To become a member of the Conseil interculturel, the candidate must:
1. show interest for and have experience in the field of intercultural relations; 2. have knowledge of municipal activity sectors and of issues specific to urban settings; 3. be available to take part in at least 8 city council meetings every year, as well as in meetings of the special committees in charge of studying particular subjects; 4. be a resident of one of the 19 boroughs.
All persons interested in becoming members of the CIM, with the exception of city employees, must submit their resume, along with a one-page, typewritten cover letter explaining the reasons for their interest, by August 13, 2010, at 4:30 p.m.
However, city employees may encourage their acquaintances to show interest by submitting their application.
