Canadian tax preparation software will donate $1 for every Canadian who files online using NETFILE with UFile on Saturday, April 22 to help Earth Day Canada plant more trees and reduce carbon footprint
MONTRÉAL, April 20, 2017 /CNW/ - Procrastinating your way through tax season has never been more eco-friendly. UFile, the Canadian tax preparation software owned by Thomson Reuters, is expanding its commitment to being green in 2017 by continuing its pledge to donate $1 to Earth Day Canada for every Canadian who files their tax return online on Earth Day – Saturday, April 22 – using NETFILE with UFile. Last year, 16,887 Canadians participated in the nationwide initiative and UFile pledges to raise last year's contribution up to $30,000 toward Earth Day's global commitment to plant 7.8 billion trees by 2020 and to encourage Canadians to reduce their carbon footprint.
"As a NETFILE-certified tax software allowing Canadians to file online with the CRA, we feel a responsibility to motivate Canadians to adopt paperless practices and communicate the environmental advantages of digitizing personal finance like online tax filing," says Sylvain Fortin, marketing manager at UFile. "It's one of the reasons why we redesigned our software last year; to make online tax filing more intuitive, highly accurate, and actually enjoyable."
Join in the global movement to protect the planet and file your tax return using NETFILE with UFile on Saturday, April 22. For tax tips and tricks, visit UFile's Blog and free online tax clinic Tax & U to get accurate answers to tough questions about tax.
About Earth Day Canada
Celebrated every year on April 22, Earth Day is the largest environmental event in the world. More than six million Canadians—including nearly every school-aged child—participate in an Earth Day activity in their communities. We partner with and support hundreds of organizations across the country, as they engage Canadians in annual celebrations of this special day. Founded in 1990, Earth Day Canada is a national environmental charity. We offer free, year-round, award-winning programs to educate and inspire Canadians of all ages, backgrounds and sectors to reach local environmental solutions. Our mission is to foster and celebrate environmental respect, action and behaviour change that lessens our impact on the earth.
