LIMOGES, ON, June 13, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Calypso is kicking off its 4th season with a new addition that will be sure to impress! Kongo Expedition, a new theme river following a $7 million investment, will lead guests through the African savana.
It takes about 15 minutes to complete the river's nearly 400-meter course. Swimming fans will dive into a mysterious journey at the heart of Kongo Expedition's majestic setting, where they will discover abandoned beaches, flooded caves filled with surprises, huts, falls and torrents: a fun and magical African expedition! Explorers will need to watch out for the giant mammals, reptiles and sneaky primates lurking just around the bend… Also, an ancient legend tells that a mysterious tribe of feather-headed jungle folk armed with lances dwells at the end of this wavy river, led by a sorcerer that is as feared as he is worshipped.
Swimmers will have the chance to cool off at Kongo Beach, a family wave pool, located at Kongo Expedition's exit - fun for all ages!
After braving the river's secrets, adventurers can make the fun last even longer in the Splash Zone, with its many interactive water games.
"Kongo Expedition river enables us to diversify our selection of theme attractions and water games, said Mr. Guy Drouin, President and CEO of Calypso Theme Waterpark. Furthermore, this season Calypso Theme Waterpark will offer 8 new VIP cabanas, a new wooded area with 150 picnic tables and 3 new restaurants to satisfy the smallest cravings to the most voracious appetites: a fast-food location, a submarine shop and a dairy bar."
Kongo Expedition project, including new restaurants, required an investment of $7 million. The newly opened area, including the river, eateries and picnic area, covers approximately 20,000 sq. m., nearly 4 times the size of Calypso Palace wave pool. This is the park's first attraction in which swimmers can ride single inner tubes, thereby letting adventurers test their courage individually.1
Is your stomach growling? These new eateries have all appetites covered:
