Calypso Theme Waterpark's Summit Tower named Innovation of the Year at Ottawa Tourism Awards Français
LIMOGES, ON, April 27, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Calypso, Canada's biggest and best theme waterpark, was once again honoured this week during the Ottawa Tourism Awards, where it received the Innovation of the Year award for its spectacular aquatic complex, Summit Tower.
In the wake of being awarded the prestigious title of Company of the Year by the Regroupement des gens d'affaires de la Capitale nationale (RGA) during its 2012 Excellence Gala, on April 21, this new award thrills Guy Drouin, President and CEO of Calypso: "Innovation is at the very heart of our business decisions, and both of these prestigious awards encourage us to set the bar higher moving forward. Furthermore, we are equally thrilled to see the tangible impact our efforts had on Ottawa's tourist industry."
Since 2011, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the Summit Tower, the highest free-standing waterslide tower in North America. This 10-storey high tower features three new types of waterslides, each offering a unique experience:
- Four family coiled slides with translucent and closed-off sections.
- Four high-speed slides - a world exclusive: 2 with toboggan boats for 4 people and 2 with double inner tubes.
- Two Canada's exclusive AquaLoops: slides for thrill-seekers where adrenaline and centrifugal force provide an exhilarating experience, with a 2.5 G loop.
With the addition of its new aquatic complex Summit Tower, Calypso represents an investment of over $50 million that contributes to the entire region's commercial and economic development, provides 500 jobs and allows its numerous visitors to enjoy a magical experience.
The carrying-out of the impressive Calypso Theme Waterpark project required over four years of strategic planning and construction. Located on a 100-acre site, Calypso is a world-class waterpark that stands out, among other things, through its warm and enchanting Caribbean atmosphere.
Calypso also distinguishes itself by the immensity of its site, an aquatic facility with 35 waterslides, 100 water games and the country's largest wave pool, notwithstanding that all pools are heated. These attractions, such as Jungle Run River, Pirate's Aquaplay and Zoo Lagoon for kids, are all more impressive than the next and boast the latest technology. Calypso Theme Waterpark is located east of Ottawa off highway 417 and 75 minutes from Montréal.
